How do I make a reservation through VIVA VAN?

Simply fill in the information we ask you in the “Make a Reservation” field, which you will find on the main page of the Website. These are:

  • The Viva van service point where you will pick up and drop off the car.
  • The type and class of the car
  • The dates and times of pick-up and drop-off.
Can I choose a specific make or model of car?

No, the reservation is made for a specific car category, which includes various models with similar characteristics. You can state your preference when picking up the car and if there is availability, we will serve you.

What is the minimum/maximum period that I can rent a car through VIVA VAN?

The minimum rental period is 59 minutes and the maximum is thirty (30) days.

What is Online Prepayment and what is “Payment upon pickup”?

You can prepay your rental amount by credit or debit card. If you use a debit card to prepay your online reservation, you will need to present a credit card in the same name when you pick up the car.

Alternatively, you can choose to pay for your reservation when you pick up the car from the service point. In this case, you will need to enter your credit/debit card details.

Will I receive a confirmation of my reservation?

After successfully completing your reservation, a confirmation will be sent to the email address you provided during your reservation.

How can I make a change to my reservation?

You can only make a change to the dates, times at the pick-up point – up to 2 hours before the start of your reservation.

Changing the reservation details will result in a recalculation of the price based on the prices in effect at that time, vehicle availability, return point, etc.

For reservations that require a car category availability check (on request), you cannot modify your reservation details.

A change in car category or driver/credit card details cannot be made. In this case, please cancel your reservation and make a new one, knowing that the cancellation policy applies in any case.

What happens if I cancel my reservation? Is there a charge?

You can cancel your reservation up to 5 minutes before the pick-up time of the car you have stated in your reservation. For prepaid reservations, if you cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the start of the rental, the entire amount of the reservation will be refunded to your card.

Otherwise, the amount of the reservation will be refunded to your card, less a late cancellation fee of €50 including VAT, within two (2) business days. In the event that you make a prepaid reservation within 48 hours of the start of the rental, and it is subsequently canceled, then the amount of the reservation will be refunded to your card, less a late cancellation fee of €50.

For reservations where payment is made upon receipt of the car, cancellation is permitted until the start of the rental without any charge.

What happens if I do not show up when I pick up the car? Is there a charge?

In the event that you do not show up to pick up the rented vehicle on the day and time you stated during your reservation without prior notice, Viva Van has the right to cancel your reservation after 30 minutes, without prior written notice.

For prepaid reservations, the amount of the reservation will be refunded to your card less the no-show fee, which is €50 including VAT. For reservations where payment is made upon collection of the car, the no-show fee is €50 including VAT.

Can I make a reservation with a card that is not in my name?

No. The holder of the card with which the reservation was made must be present to collect the car, as the cardholder will sign the rental agreement as the driver.

What is an On Request pre-approval reservation?

Reservations for cars that are in On Request pre-approval status must first be confirmed by our Reservations Center for the reservation details you entered. When entering the request, you will be asked for a valid credit/debit card.

My request for pre-approval on request car category was approved, but the payment/pre-approval was declined. What should I do?

In the event that the availability of the category you have requested is approved by our Reservations Department, but the card you have registered is not approved, you will be notified via email to proceed with changing the card you have to register.

Regarding car use

Can I tow a Viva Van car?

No. Towing is a violation of the terms of the rental agreement and is not permitted under any circumstances.

Can I return the car to a different Viva Van service point than the one originally agreed upon?

Changing the car's return point may result in a higher charge. Please contact a Viva Van branch or reservations department for information.

What is the policy regarding off-road driving?

Viva Van cars should only be driven on paved roads.

Can I remove the seats from the car?

No, this is not permitted.

What if I return the car later?

There is a 60-minute grace period. After that, an extra day will be charged.

What happens if I return the car earlier?

In case of returning the car earlier than the date shown on the reservation, there will be no refund.

What should I do if there is a technical problem with the car?

In the unfortunate event of a mechanical failure, you should contact EXTRA ACCICTANCE roadside assistance at 10204 and 215.500.70.70

Then contact the Viva Van branch from which the rental was made.

What should I do if I have an accident?

You should immediately call the police and then contact the Viva Van branch.

If I accept CDW or SCDW insurance, am I covered for any damage that may occur?

No, there are exceptions to the damages that are not covered by any insurance. Such are the damages to the bottom of the car, to the wheels and to the tires. You are also not covered for damages that arise as a result of driving on uneven ground, towing another vehicle, transporting explosives, driving in gun races, drugs, etc.

Is there a limitation on the mileage in a Mini Van rental?

The price of a one-day rental includes 150 kilometers. In case the renter exceeds the mileage limit, the additional charge amounts to €0.16/km. for category V2, €0.17/km for category V3 and €0.32 for category V4. For rentals of more than or equal to 2 days, the mileage is free.

Can I travel outside Greece with the rented Mini Van and what is the procedure I need to follow?

You will need written approval from Viva Van, which will also issue the required green card.

About the vehicle

What are the general requirements to rent a car?

In order for the driver to be able to rent a Viva Van vehicle, he must:

  • Be at least 21 years old for categories A, B, J, Z and V2. For the remaining vehicle categories, his age must be over 23 years old.
  • Be the holder of a credit card, accepted by Viva Van, for the pre-approval of the amounts relating to the guarantee, the advance payment and the payment of the rental cost (for non-prepaid reservations).
  • Be in possession of a driving license for at least 1 year. His driving license must be Greek, European (for EU countries) or International (for countries outside the EU). For more information on the accepted driving license by country, click HERE (PDF of driving licenses is included)
Who can drive a Viva Van car?

Only those mentioned in the rental contract as drivers are allowed to drive the Viva Van car.

Does Viva Van allow additional drivers?

Yes, you can add more than one driver to your contract. This can be done:

  • Either during your reservation, select the Additional Driver service.
  • Either through the Online service, after you have made a reservation (Online or by phone).
  • Either during the process of completing your contract, at the service point.

The additional driver must meet the rental conditions and be the holder of a valid driving license with him, which he must show before renting the car.

How much does each additional driver cost?

The cost of each additional driver is €5 per rental day.

What deposit should I leave?

GUARANTEE: For rentals in Greece, upon receipt of the car, a deposit amount will be blocked on the driver's credit/debit card, which is equal to the amount of the insurance waiver included in the rental and as defined in the paragraph "LIABILITY WAIVER (CDW - SCDW)" per car category. The deposit amount will be returned in full at the end of the rental, provided that no other charges arise. The release of the amount may take up to 14 days depending on the issuing bank of the card.

SUPER COVER (SUP): The renter can be completely exempted from his participation in the event of theft or accident in of a rented vehicle by paying a daily amount of €9 for categories A, B, J, Z, €11 for categories C, D, F, K, M, P, R, T, €17 for categories E, EM, EE, ZE, FE, DE, N, O, NM, U, V, Y, YL, 1, 5, 8, V3, V4, V5, €22 for category 9, SE, SY, 9F, V6 and €45 for categories 3, YP, 9L and provided that he has previously accepted the charge for CDW, SCDW and TP theft insurance coverages or his reservation includes them. The coverage includes glass breakage, damage to the car's tires as well as the 'Extended Roadside Assistance' service. No coverage (CDW, SCDW, SUP) covers damage to the underside of the car and to the wheels. Not available for rentals for drivers aged 19 and 20.
